New ventures in the economy are continually being taken.
Approximately 600,000 new businesses are established in the US each year.
Also, the number of businesses that exist grow by 2% each year.
The majority of businesses are small firms which employ less than 20 people.
This does not surprise me. Many people are interested in taking entrepreneurial adventures and starting their own small businesses. Also, people seem to be more aware at the fact that large businesses are taking over, and are encouraging more local, small businesses.

In reference to people encouraging local and small businesses, they're not just encouraging new ones to start, but they're also encouraging the consumer to buy local, because its better from every standpoint. Its better because it supports the LOCAL economy. The local stores hire local employees. If you buy your food from the local store, its probably going to be a lot fresher and tastier, because it didn't necessarily have to travel for hundreds of miles crammed in a truck before it reaches you. And its much better from an environmental standpoint when the business is smaller, especially in the case of a grocery store, because they don't have to use trucks to haul products for hundreds of miles.
ReplyDeleteIf I had to create a new venture, it would probably be something in the green industry. I think its unquestionable that the market for energy-efficiency is going to grow as fuel costs go up. Maybe a business that could weatherize your home or a green architectural firm would be a nice venture. And neither of those could be outsourced.
